Former Greeneville Sun co-owner, columnist Arne Jones dies
Martha Arnold Susong (Arne) Jones, who played a variety of significant roles at The Greeneville (Tenn.) Sun for some six decades, died Friday, Dec. 16, at Laughlin Memorial Hospital. She was 101 years of age.

New ownership announced for Jones Media properties
Jones Media, a fourth-generation family-owned media company with several daily and non-daily community newspapers, tourism-related products and services and a digital marketing solutions agency, has been sold. The buyer of Jones Media's assets is family-owned Adams Publishing Group, based in Minneapolis, Minn., and chaired by Steve Adams.
Gregg Jones will continue as president and CEO of Jones Media, a role he has held for more than 15 years, and will succeed his late father, John M. Jones, III, as publisher of The Greeneville Sun.
Additionally, Steve Adams and his family have asked Gregg Jones to assume a greater leadership position within their overall rapidly-growing newspaper publishing operations nationally.

John M. Jones III, longtime Sun publisher, dies at 101
John M. Jones III, 101, longtime publisher of The Greeneville (Tenn.) Sun and a major force in local economic development and civic life from the late 1940s to the late 1990s, died peacefully Tuesday afternoon, July 26, surrounded by family.

America's Newspapers – the association formed from the merger of the Inland Press Association and Southern Newspaper Publishers Association – was ceremonially launched October 6 at its inaugural annual meeting in Chicago.
Dean Ridings will be its chief executive officer, effective Nov. 11.
America's Newspapers unites two of the oldest press associations to form one of the industry's largest advocates for newspapers and the many benefits to their communities, civil life, freedom of expression and democracy.
"Newspaper journalism provides a voice for the voiceless, challenges elected officials, shines a light on government, calls for change when change is needed, and exposes corruption and injustice," said Chris Reen, the president and publisher of The Gazette in Colorado Springs who will serve as the first president of America's Newspapers.

New association launches today;
SNPA-Inland merger is complete
A new association formed by the consolidation of SNPA and the Inland Press Association was officially launched today. The name of the new association will be announced on Oct. 6 at the association's first annual meeting in Chicago.
Edward VanHorn, SNPA's executive director, said that the merger unites two of the country's oldest press associations into a progressive new organization that will use its bigger and more powerful voice to be an unapologetic advocate for newspapers.
