Cox Enterprises names SVP of human resources

Cox Enterprises has announced Charlene Binder as senior vice president of human resources. She reports to Marybeth Leamer, Cox Enterprises' executive vice president of human resources and administration.

"Charlene brings global and regional experience that align perfectly with Cox Enterprises' unique culture," said Leamer. "At Cox, our employees are our number one resource, and Charlene is an expert at developing programs that deliver positive results for employees and the business. She will oversee our human resources function and grow our wellness, talent management and diversity programs."

Binder is responsible for Cox Enterprises' human resources functions, including benefits, compensation and human resources technology services. She also oversees workforce diversity, change management, talent acquisition, talent management programs and succession planning for Cox, one of the nation's largest private companies with 55,000 employees.

She previously served as senior vice president at ABB, where she was responsible for overall strategic and operational HR direction for 30,000 employees in the company's North American region.

She has also held HR leadership and management roles at The Hershey Company, Unilever, Dannon and Johnson & Johnson and a consulting role at AlixPartners.

Binder received a master's of science degree in organizational change management from The New School University, located in New York City and bachelor of arts degrees in Labor Studies and in History from Penn State University. In 2010 Binder was recognized by the Penn State School of Labor and Employment Relations as an outstanding alumni and was also named one of the most powerful and influential women in Pennsylvania by the National Diversity Council.
