Chris Cato, a veteran financial executive, has been promoted to senior vice president and senior controller of Community Newspaper Holdings, Inc., effective immediately.

Cato has been controller and vice president of newspaper operations. He succeeds Jennifer Pustaver in his new position. She was recently promoted to CNHI's executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Cato joined CNHI nearly 16 years ago as an accounting manager in Birmingham. He has moved steadily up the financial department's management ladder since then.

"I'm looking forward to this new assignment with excitement," said Cato. "There are always new challenges and opportunities for efficiencies and growth, especially given the digital world we live in today."

Cato served as a budget analyst for United Health Care in Birmingham prior to joining CNHI in January of 2000. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a runner who faithfully does three miles every day and the father of two adult children – a son studying to become a dentist and a daughter pursuing nursing studies.
