Let's build a playground

Posted

Developing an effectively operating organization is like building a playground.  Everyone involved needs to rally around the idea, have a purpose members can commit themselves to, and work to bring a lot of diverse people together to make it all happen.

In the building of a playground, someone and/or something will be the catalyst that gets people thinking, "Okay, what can we do now?" Meeting and thinking and talking about what needs to be done in itself will not guarantee success, however, since it often lacks the call to action needed for things to happen.

There is a good possibility that when people's hearts and minds are engaged in a project, this will get participants to roll up their sleeves and get into something that's understood, and likely to feel good about.

Behind good intentions, it's planning and hard work that carries the effect.  The process works most effectively when the following is utilized:

  • Include all persons involved.
  • Include others interested and/or affected parties.
  • Get leadership in place.
  • Recognize contributions made.
  • Let those involved make the project their own.

A playground is where people play and have fun.  Moving workers toward common ends in a sense of dignity and importance brings on an environment of play where those involved have fun.  Expect a lot, get a lot ... expect little and you won't be disappointed either.

The biggest challenge to any organization's success is its ability to develop others to participate in the growth of the organization.

Whatever you want to do in life, fall in love with the process of BECOMING GREAT!

It's not the first 40 hours in a week that sets you apart, it's how you spend the next 40 hours!
