Elizabeth Clarke, the Palm Beach Daily News' managing editor, has been promoted to editor – the newspaper's top editorial position.

Clarke's appointment was announced by Tim Burke, publisher of the Palm Beach Daily News and The Palm Beach Post.

"Elizabeth is an experienced and passionate journalist who understands the special role and responsibility we have on the island," Burke said. "She and our award-winning team will build upon an outstanding product, brand and tradition. They have a great vision for serving our readers in print and all digital platforms."

Clarke, 44, assumes her new post Oct. 1. As editor, Clarke will handle some of the duties and responsibilities that were held by Joyce Reingold, who retired in July after 23 years as editor and publisher.
