Cox Enterprises announces several corporate promotions

Cox Enterprises has announced the following corporate promotions:

  • Jon Gamble has been promoted to senior director of benefits. He reports to Betsy Vencius, vice president of benefits, compensation and human resource technology systems (HRTS).

Gamble is responsible for designing and administrating healthcare and retirement plans for Cox's 50,000 employees and family members. The plans include benefits such as medical, dental and life insurance, as well as long-term disability, flexible spending accounts and adoption assistance. He manages partnerships with healthcare vendors and handles the benefits integration with company acquisitions and divestitures.  He also oversees Cox's retirement plan team, which handles the company's retirement payroll and ensures compliance and distribution of plan notices.

He joined Cox in 2005 and has held a number of benefits roles relating to healthcare and retirement. Prior to Cox, he served as a human resource information systems specialist for Delta Air Lines.

  • Angela Leung Wasmer has been named senior director of corporate responsibility and public affairs. She reports to Bob Jimenez, senior vice president of corporate communications and public affairs.

Wasmer is responsible for planning, directing and overseeing Cox Enterprises' public affairs practice, including community relations, corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, diversity outreach strategy and communications, media relations, public relations support, crisis communications and issues management. She also serves as a senior spokesperson for the company and leads the Cox Employee Relief Fund, which has provided more than $3 million in assistance since its creation in 2005.

Prior to Cox, Wasmer served as director of global public affairs at Gap Inc. In this role she was responsible for corporate media relations, crisis management, CSR support and partnerships. She also previously served as principal at Panna Strategies, director of corporate and foundation relations with The Asia Foundation, corporate affairs communication manager for Microsoft Corporation in Asia, and director of media relations for the Dittus Group.

  • Scott McLane was named director of corporate services. He reports to Bill Stephens, vice president of corporate services and travel.

In this role, McLane is responsible for the design, construction and project management of all interior, exterior and mechanical renovations as they relate to corporate facilities for Cox Communications, the company's broadband and cable entertainment division. He also oversees mail operations and copy services.

Most recently, McLane served as senior manager of operational services in Cox Enterprises' Real Estate department. Prior to joining the company, he worked on Cox's campus expansion as a senior project manager with CBRE Atlanta's Project Management Group. He also held positions with the Sembler Company, Holder Construction Group and Edward D. Stone Jr. & Associates where he worked on a variety of mixed-use, retail, housing and corporate development projects.
