Edwards tapped as Clarion-Ledger publisher

Nathan Edwards has been named president and publisher of The Clarion-Ledger (Jackson, Miss.) and Mississippi Media.

In making the announcement, Michael Kane, president of Gannett East Group, said: “Nate brings experience, energy, commitment and a passion for community journalism to the Jackson market. He will make a difference.”

Edwards has been general manager of the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American since March.

"I am excited to join the team at The Clarion-Ledger and Mississippi Media; a proven leader for news, information and advertising solutions," Edwards said. "Working with the solid team we have in place, my mission is to continue to grow the organization by exceeding the needs of readers and advertisers alike."

Prior to Hattiesburg, Edwards was vice president of sales for The Augusta (Ga.) Chronicle and classifieds director at the Chattanooga (Tenn.) Times Free Press.
