Courier, Comet publisher to retire

Posted

Miles Forrest will retire Sept. 19 after a career spanning more than four decades at The Courier (Houma, La) and Daily Comet (Thibodaux), most of it as the two newspapers' publisher.

Among his accomplishments, Forrest expanded the newspaper from print to online and mobile delivery, converted the newspapers from black and white to full process color on a regular basis and led both newspapers to a long string of state journalism and advertising awards.

Forrest, a Thibodaux native and Houma resident, is the only publisher in the Halifax Media Group who has worked an entire career, 41 years, at his hometown newspapers. He served as Daily Comet publisher from 1983 to 1987 and became The Courier publisher in 1988. He has served as the publisher of both newspapers since 2000.
