Jeff Gauger named editor of The Times in Shreveport

Former Greensboro (N.C.) editor and publisher Jeff Gauger has been named executive editor of The Times in Shreveport, La., according to Times president Alan English.

Gauger, who will begin work in Shreveport and Bossier City Aug. 1, has spent 18 years as a senior editor at various publications and has been the top editor of award-winning dailies in two markets.

English also announced that award-winning journalist Barbara Leader has joined The Times staff as a watchdog and storytelling coach.

While working at the Monroe News-Star, Leader's investigative reporting exposed Louisiana's flawed educational voucher system that resulted in the public questioning of the Louisiana Superintendent of Education.
