Tom Jensen has joined the staff of The Sanford Herald as editor, overseeing newsroom operations and responsibility for the newspaper's print and digital products, Publisher Bill Horner III has announced.

A native of Minnesota, Jensen, 45, comes to The Herald from Dubuque, Iowa, where he worked as assistant city editor for The Telegraph Herald and most recently served as a communications and digital marketing specialist for a university and a privately held electric supply company.

Jensen succeeds R.V. Hight, who recently took a position with Central Carolina Community College after a 35-year career at the newspaper. Hight will be an occasional contributor to The Herald and also work on some of the newspaper's special sections in the future.
