Oklahoma native Mark Millsap has been named publisher of The Norman Transcript.

Millsap moves to Norman from Chickasha, where he was publisher of The Express-Star.

He succeeds Terry Connor, The Transcript publisher for the last four years who has been appointed publisher of The Cullman (Ala.) Times.

The Transcript, The Chickasha Express-Star and The Cullman Times are owned by Community Newspaper Holdings Inc., the Montgomery, Ala.-based media company with newspapers, websites and specialty publications in 23 states.

Millsap is an 18-year newspaper veteran with experience at papers in Alabama, Wisconsin and Louisiana before joining CNHI in 2011.

He is a native of Muskogee, worked for the Muskogee Phoenix, now owned by CNHI, early in his newspaper career, and graduated from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah.

"We are fortunate to have someone of Mark's proven ability to become the publisher in an important CNHI community like Norman," said Steve McPhaul, executive vice president and chief operating officer of CNHI. "His passion and commitment to excellence on the print and digital fronts will well serve the readers and the advertisers of The Norman Transcript."

Mark and his wife, Melanie, have two children, Makenzie, 16, and Mason, 12.
