Marietta Daily Journal welcomes new managing editor, VP/content

J.K. Murphy, a 35-year career journalist, has joined the newsroom leadership team of the Marietta (Ga.) Daily Journal, it has been announced by Publisher Otis Brumby.

Murphy will assume the role of managing editor of the MDJ and vice president of content for the publish­ing group. 

‟We are delighted to welcome J.K. to Cobb County and fortunate to have someone with his talent and experience join our newsroom," said Brumby. ‟He understands community newspapers and will be a tremendous asset to our organization as we continue to enhance our local news coverage." 

A graduate of the Indiana Uni­versity school of journalism, Murphy most recently worked for the Gwinnett Daily Post and its parent company, Southern Community Newspapers Inc. Over the last 16 years, Murphy has served as editor, publisher, vice president of content and general manager with the Post and SCNI.

Prior to coming to Georgia, Murphy worked at newspapers in his home state of Indiana. ‟The MDJ is recognized through­out Georgia and beyond as a great newspaper and I am privileged to become a part of this publication's nearly 150-year history of serving its readers," Murphy said. ‟I look forward to my work in the newsroom and becoming part of the Cobb County community."
