Newscycle Content and Digital solutions feature new tools

Posted

Newscycle Solutions has announced the latest release of its Content Management and Digital products. The new software platforms, 2014-2 Newscycle Content (7.3) and 2014-1 Newscycle Digital (7.4), include major revenue optimization features, expanded planning and control options, enhanced collaboration tools, streamlined social content sharing and several usability improvements.

"We are happy to announce these new features in our content and digital software. They are specifically designed to increase productivity and help the end-user," said Kelli Chmielorz, Newscycle's director of product strategy, Media Product Solutions. "The new releases are architected with our customers in mind, and how they can do their jobs more efficiently."

Specifically, 2014-2 Newscycle Content focuses on empowering the newsroom user and improving day-to-day workflows with the following key features:

  • Common Pages
Newscycle's Content Planner was introduced in an earlier release, and Common Pages are an enhancement to this feature. Users can plan and create pages once and share the content between multiple pages across many channels. Users simply build the Master Page, and trigger the system to distribute and automatically update the Child Pages in an editable page.
  • Improved Wire Handling
Users can check for wire updates at-a-glance with the new functionality in 2014-2 Newscycle Content. The system provides an instant overview of updates to wire stories, and allows the latest version of the article to be selected. The user will know immediately if it is the latest version or if an updated version exists.
    • Mouse over icon to get details about the newest wire element.
    • "Take me to latest wire" function.
    • Know if the wire that an article was converted from is the newest update.
    • "View" or "Get content" from the updated wire.

The 2014-1 Newscycle Digital release offers improved collaboration tools and a more efficient environment for digital editors and contributors.

Revenue Optimization features
2014-1 Newscycle Digital makes it possible to create more vertical products and repurpose content for these channels. One article can be connected to multiple subscriptions at different levels. Increased revenue can be recognized through multiple single-sale items.

Access Level Control
Users can now assign multiple access levels to the same piece of content. Access Control provides granular and configurable access management. Subscribers (including payments) are managed externally through an XML (SOAP) setup. Access Control manages user access to galleries, stories and the Custom Content Engine (CCE).

Image Handling Collaboration
Images are only transferred once, even when the content and images are published to multiple platforms. Images flow from Newscycle Content to Newscycle Digital, making them instantly available on any channel. This improved image handling frees up network resources and reduces redundancies in multi-channel workflows.
