Linda Tanner of Goldsboro, N.C., dies at age 74

Linda Crawford Tanner, mother of Goldsboro (N.C.) News-Argus President and Publisher Hal H. Tanner III, died Monday, surrounded by her family at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. She was 74.

Her husband, Hal Tanner Jr., is the retired publisher of The Goldsboro News-Argus. He also was an active member of SNPA, serving on the SNPA Board of Directors, Board of Trustees, Marketing and Smaller Newspapers committees.  Linda Tanner regularly attended SNPA conferences with her husband.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 10, at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Ray Hanna officiating. Inurnment will be at Willowdale Cemetery following the service.  Visitations will be held at the home Thursday, June 9, from 5 to 8 p.m. and after the burial.
