Texas press honors Tillotson with Frank Mayborn leadership award
Texas Press Association honored Dolph Tillotson with the Frank W. Mayborn Award for Community Leadership on Saturday, June 18.
Tillotson, 66, is president of Southern Newspapers and was publisher of The Daily News in Galveston, Texas, for almost 25 years, leaving that post in 2011.
The Mayborn Award is presented annually to a publisher or other newspaper executive who has displayed exemplary community leadership, the association said in a news release.
Sue Mayborn, publisher of the Temple Daily Telegram and Killeen Daily Herald, established the award in 1992 in memory of her husband.
It honors newspaper men and women who have firm commitment to community service and who are devoting the same zeal to that cause as Mayborn did during his long career.
