New chief information officer named for Morris Communications

Andrew Young has been named chief information officer of Morris Communications Company, it has been announced by William S. Morris III, chairman and CEO. Young will be responsible for information management and company-wide strategic planning and deployment of information technology. 

"Andy brings a wealth of newspaper information technology experience," Morris said, "and we are pleased to have him filling this important role in the company."

Young currently serves as vice president of digital operations for Digital First Media in Denver, Colo., where he leads in administering news media sites for daily newspapers and weekly publications. He also serves as vice president of IT operations for DFM's California Newspaper Partnership, supervising IT staff in administering publishing applications.

Prior to joining Digital First Media, Young was director of publishing applications for A.H. Belo Corp. in Dallas, Texas.

Young and his wife live in Aurora, Colo., and will relocate to Augusta. He will assume his new role at Morris Communications Jan. 2, 2015.
