Twilight Broadcasting to acquire WEEU license

Posted

Twilight Broadcasting, a New Freedom, Pennsylvania-based company led by Robert Lowe, is acquiring the WEEU 830 AM license in Reading, Penn., from Reading Eagle Company.

Reading Eagle Company, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in March, had solicited bids for the WEEU license when it was not included in the sale of the rest of the Reading Eagle Company to MediaNews Group, which is expected to close no later than July 31.

Twilight Broadcasting will be interviewing all WEEU employees to determine employment opportunities.

WEEU is the oldest continually operating radio station with its original call letters in Reading, and the only locally-owned and operated radio station in the city. This year marks WEEU's 87th consecutive year of broadcasting.

Dirks, Van Essen, Murray & April, a media merger and acquisition firm based in Santa Fe, N.M., is representing the Reading Eagle Company in the sale.
