Terry Egger to deliver keynote address at Mega-Conference
The Philadelphia Inquirer, as a Public Benefit Corporation, in conjunction with The Lenfest Institute for Journalism, is transforming into a media company totally focused on the needs of customers.
During a Mega-Conference keynote address on Feb. 25 by Terry Egger, publisher and CEO of the Philadelphia Media Network, hear how the newspaper is driving consumer revenue through digital subscriptions, membership and philanthropy in pursuit of a sustainable business model to support journalism and its mission.
Egger's presentation will outline the vision, mission and unique structure established a few years ago by the late philanthropist Gerry Lenfest to help, in his words, "keep journalism alive in the city that I love."
Egger said, "His efforts inspired a total transformation of our 190-year-old company. We are a for-profit Public Benefit Corporation, owned by a non-profit (The Lenfest Institute for Journalism). While philanthropy is helping our transition, our business model is increasingly dependent on consumer revenue. To that end, I will share how our entire company is focused on serving the people of greater Philadelphia, gaining their trust, improving their lives and earning their financial support."
