Best ideas from SNPA's Publisher-to-Publisher video conferences
A fast-paced session that will highlight the best ideas from SNPA's popular Publisher-to-Publisher video conferences will be a highlight at SNPA's News Industry Summit in Nashville, Tenn., Oct. 10-12. It will be led by Tom Silvestri, president and publisher of the Richmond (Va.) Times-Dispatch.
Need ideas on revenue, cost-cutting, organizing your sales force, leveraging data to build audience and diversify revenue, ways news coverage impacts your revenue, and creating a digital agency? Then, you need to be in Nashville for the News Industry Summit.
"We're taking a page out of the SNPA playbook that makes your participation in a program or conference pay for itself," Silvestri said. "In this quick-paced segment, we'll share an assortment of revenue ideas and other best practices gleaned from this year's new initiative called P2P."
These publisher-to-publisher video conference calls attracted more than 100 participants who detailed their winning ideas.
"Consider this Nashville session a super P2P," Silvestri said.
In addition to serving as publisher of the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Silvestri is vice president, Richmond Group, BH Media Group. He is a former SNPA president and is chairman of the SNPA Foundation Board of Trustees. He has been the moderator for three of the P2P calls held so far this year.
During his 35-plus-year career in the news media, Silvestri has advanced in his profession as a stringer, reporter, copy/line editor, business editor, deputy managing editor, division staff executive, the president of a community newspaper group, publisher of a mid-size newspaper, vice president of a regional group and a Sunday columnist. In Richmond, he's mostly known for the Richmond Times-Dispatch's engagement initiative called the Public Square, which has been hailed by the community for demonstrating civil public conversations on important topics.
He's learned the importance of resilience after going through complicated mergers, the surprise sale of his long-time employer, many product launches, innovations, reductions in workforce, countless system changes, a major fire at a production plant, an earthquake and violent weather that disrupted operations at inopportune times.
His distinctions include induction into the Virginia Commonwealth University's Virginia Communications Hall of Fame, alumnus of the year from VCU, Pace University and Leadership Metro Richmond, and top leadership positions in community, regional and national groups.
