Resolve Philadelphia, a journalism organization that conducts groundbreaking collaborative reporting on prisoner re-entry and solutions to poverty, is urging Southern editors and publishers to take part in its Editorial Cycle Survey.  This study will analyze how newsrooms make decisions about language and style throughout the editorial process.

This new national initiative, Reframe, seeks to help journalists improve their coverage of mis- and under-represented communities through authentic, human-centered language. Over the next year, the group will be developing tools and resources that enable newsrooms to work through language and style challenges (like discontinuing the use of "illegal aliens" and "junkie," for example, or when to use person-first language); testing those tools during a pilot program in 2020; and evaluating the impact they have on trust in news audiences.

Your participation is sought by the end of this week.
