Esposito to retire as publisher; Sandmeier will lead The Daily Times 9/13/19

Carl Esposito, publisher of The Daily Times in Maryville, Tenn., for nine years and regional president for Adams Publishing Group for nearly three years, will retire effective Nov. 1.

Bryan Sandmeier, general manager of The Daily Times, will be promoted to publisher.

Paul W. Mauney, general manager of The Greeneville Sun and Adams' chief revenue officer for this region, will replace Esposito as regional president for Adams' Tennessee/North Carolina/Virginia group.

Paul Mauney to join The Greeneville Sun/APGMedia of TN/NC/VA 5/21/19

After a career in the newspaper business of more than 48 years – 33 of which have been spent in Greeneville, Tenn., with The Greeneville Sun and its sister companies – John E. Cash, has announced his retirement, effective July 31.

Having held several positions in a company that is now owned by the Adams family of Adams Publishing Group (APG), Cash for the last two years has been acting as general manager of The Greeneville Sun and chief revenue officer for Adams Publishing Group's Tennessee/North Carolina/Virginia region.

Family-owned Adams Publishing Group, based in Minneapolis, Minn., also announced the hiring of GateHouse Media executive Paul W. Mauney to succeed Cash.

Putting people in the paper 3/19/19

When The Greeneville Sun published its "Around the Clock" special section last year, it not only made money but readers and advertisers asked for more. The paper obliged.

General Manager John Cash describes the section as featuring "ordinary people doing everyday things." That's all it is: photos of people taken over the course of a day. Only now it's a quarterly special section called "Around the Town."

"I think what people really liked is these are people who would never get their picture in the paper, probably," Cash said. "These are just every day, normal folks, doing whatever they do at work and during all hours of the day and night."

Former Greeneville Sun co-owner, columnist Arne Jones dies 12/16/16

Martha Arnold Susong (Arne) Jones, who played a variety of significant roles at The Greeneville (Tenn.) Sun for some six decades, died Friday, Dec. 16, at Laughlin Memorial Hospital. She was 101 years of age.

Tom Silvestri is elected chairman of SNPA Foundation Board of Trustees 9/15/16

Thomas A. Silvestri, president and publisher of the Richmond (Va.) Times-Dispatch, has been elected chairman of the SNPA Foundation Board of Trustees.

The SNPA Board of Directors elected five trustees for the SNPA Foundation at its meeting in Sarasota on Wednesday, Sept. 14.

The trustees, in turn, elected their officers – also that same morning.

New ownership announced for Jones Media properties 9/6/16

Jones Media, a fourth-generation family-owned media company with several daily and non-daily community newspapers, tourism-related products and services and a digital marketing solutions agency, has been sold. The buyer of Jones Media's assets is family-owned Adams Publishing Group, based in Minneapolis, Minn., and chaired by Steve Adams.

Gregg Jones will continue as president and CEO of Jones Media, a role he has held for more than 15 years, and will succeed his late father, John M. Jones, III, as publisher of The Greeneville Sun.

Additionally, Steve Adams and his family have asked Gregg Jones to assume a greater leadership position within their overall rapidly-growing newspaper publishing operations nationally.
