Herald-Tribune signs lease with SunTrust Bank

The Herald-Tribune has signed a lease for new office space in downtown Sarasota.

A moving van will not be required. The media company will move its journalists, advertising sales people and support staff, from 1741 Main St. to the SunTrust Bank building next door at 1777 Main. The new space will be remodeled for the downtown office's 135 employees.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

"Unfortunately, we are going to be leaving our iconic building," said Herald-Tribune Publisher Patrick Dorsey, who signed the lease with SunTrust.

The company has downsized in recent years as the media landscape changed, and needed less space – for a lower rent. Its printing operations are at 1800 University Parkway and it also has branch offices in Venice and in Manatee County.
