The Washington Post debuts PostTV Web show
The Washington Post has launched In Play, the latest PostTV Web show. The daily show hosted by Chris Cillizza and Jackie Kucinich provides viewers with an unfiltered look at the day in politics, previews the week ahead and features the reporting of Post journalists and opinions from noted writers.
"In Play gets at the politics of politics, in a fun way," said Andrew Pergam, senior editor of video at The Washington Post. "Chris and Jackie's passion for politics and their on-air energy shine through, and make for a dynamic and informative show."
In Play airs Monday-Friday and is focused on afternoon and evening viewing. The entire show is edited into shorter clips for later viewing and sharing. Some of the segments that will appear on a daily or semi-regular basis include the following:
- Overplayed/Underplayed: Chris and Jackie's picks of stories dominating the headlines that are not as important as they appear, and stories viewers should be paying attention to that no one is talking about.
- State in Play: A deep dive into a state or district, showing key facts and figures for a better understanding of its people and their behavior.
- State View: Chris and Jackie chat with a trusted network of bloggers and journalists outside Washington about how an issue is playing out on the ground.
- Playlists: A visual rundown of fun facts and information tailored to what's in the news now.
"It's fun to be part of this alternative storytelling," said Chris Cillizza, author of The Fix and co-host of In Play. "I work with some of the smartest journalists in the industry and this will be a space to showcase some of those personalities and talents."
These personality-based segments will feature Dan Balz's personal pictures during his campaign reporting trips and the stories behind them, Ed O'Keefe reporting from Capitol Hill, David Fahrenthold's check on the balance of political spending, Political Dictionary with Aaron Blake, trivia with Paul Kane, Karen Tumulty, Emily Heil and more.
"I joined The Post because I was excited about crafting a show from the ground up that offers viewers a different dose of the news and matters to people watching politics around the country," said Jackie Kucinich, co-host of In Play.
