Cultural Center honors David Dunn-Rankin

David Dunn-Rankin, president of Sun Coast Media Group and president of SNPA, will be recognized April 2 as the 2016 Cultural Center of Charlotte County Honoree for his extraordinary community outreach following Hurricane Charley in 2004 and for his continued efforts on behalf of the community.

"David is someone who has been a friend of the center and contributed to the betterment of Charlotte County," said Wayne Goff, Cultural Center board president. "He has been a champion for the community."

An article about this honor in the Port Charlotte Sun notes:

"During the darkest days following the havoc wrought by Hurricane Charley ... the community was in shock and paralyzed.  Homes were lost, businesses remained shuttered, the recovery was stymied.  But David Dunn-Rankin, longtime Sun publisher and eternal optimist, lit a beacon of hope when he called a meeting of civic leaders from across Charlotte, DeSoto and Hardee counties.  This citizens committee would assess and prioritize the needs of the various communities, letting state and federal governments know where aid was needed.  Through their efforts, vital resources were delivered."
