New service adds mobile revenue source for local papers, radio, TV

Posted

Local newspapers, radio and TV can now add mobile coupons, banner ads and more to their sales offerings, giving advertisers all the benefits of traditional media, plus the power of mobile marketing. Mobile for Media is a new service that creates a digital revenue stream and requires no technical expertise or IT support. A Mobile for Media subscription gives publications and stations an exclusive, branded mobile platform. It can be free-standing or linked to existing apps or mobile sites.

Using a web-based drag and drop editor, subscribers create unlimited mobile pages containing trackable coupons, banner ads, store locators, RSS feeds, YouTube videos and more. Mobile campaigns can be sold alongside the primary media offerings or used as a bonus to entice new clients, up-sell existing advertisers and increase national business. A Mobile for Media subscription includes the competitive advantage of market exclusivity.

Mobile marketing is a large, quickly expanding revenue source for traditional media outlets:

  • Local mobile ad spending is on track to exceed $4.5 billion in 2014, up from $2.9 billion in 2013. Spending is expected to triple over the next five years. (Source: BIA/Kelsey 2014) Mobile for Media gives local media outlets the ability to profit from this fast-growing revenue opportunity.
  • National mobile ad spending is projected to hit $13 billion in 2014, a 64 percent increase over the previous year. (Source: eMarketer 2013) Mobile for Media helps stations and publications improve their share of national business by making locally-targeted mobile campaigns available to national advertisers.

Mobile for Media was designed and developed by i To Eye, a full-service advertising agency. Andrea Bergero, agency partner and Mobile for Media's lead developer, spent a decade in media sales and management before founding i To Eye. "Our agency's experience in digital marketing – particularly since the explosion of smartphone technology – gave us the idea for a simple tool to help local media profit from the mobile revolution," said Bergero. "We're excited about Mobile for Media because it makes it easy for publishers and broadcasters in markets of any size to expand their sales potential."
