Carl E. Esposito has been named president of Adams Publishing Group – Tennessee/North Carolina (formerly Jones Media), adding to his responsibilities as publisher of The Daily Times in Maryville, Tenn. The announcement was made by Gregg Jones, president of APG - East and executive vice president of Adams Publishing Group.

Esposito has served as publisher of The Daily Times since November of 2010. Prior to that he served as regional publisher and group leader of Media General's Tri-Cities/Southwest Virginia Group, including the Bristol Herald Courier, six paid-circulation weekly newspapers and CBS affiliate WJHL-TV in Johnson City. Before he joined Media General in 2005, Esposito spent 20 years serving in leadership capacities for other media organizations, including Community Newspaper Holdings Inc., Cox Ohio Publishing, Thomson Newspapers and Chew Newspapers. A native of Middletown, Ohio, Esposito holds a Bachelor of Science from Northern Kentucky University and completed post-graduate programs at Columbia University and Northwestern University.

Esposito has a significant record of achievement in journalistic excellence and community service. He currently serves on the boards of the Tennessee Press Association, Pellissippi State Foundation, Blount County Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Blount County, The Hearing & Speech Foundation, Empty Pantry Fund and Downtown Maryville Association. In 2010, Esposito's newspaper was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for meritorious public service ... journalism's highest award.

Esposito began his newspaper career right out of college as an assistant controller for Chew Newspapers, a small, family-owned newspaper group in Ohio. Progressing over the years through a multitude of positions of increasing responsibility in finance, information technology and operational management, he accepted his first publisher's position in 1989 and has never looked back.

Gregg Jones said, "Carl's impressive record of accomplishment in the newspaper industry, and his passion for excellence in all things most recently illustrated by his leadership at The Daily Times since 2010 made him an outstanding choice to become the next president of APG Tennessee/North Carolina. Carl's commitment to community service, to providing our readers and advertisers with products, services and solutions that are helpful, engaging, and that exceed their expectations is well established.  I am very proud and grateful that he was willing to take on this additional responsibility. And, I have absolutely no doubt that he will exceed my own very high expectations!"

Esposito succeeds Ralph Baldwin, a 28-year veteran of Jones Media Inc., who served as JMI's chief operating officer since 2008 and as publisher of The Daily Post Athenian in Athens, Tenn., for 20 years before that. Baldwin was also instrumental in the ownership transition from Jones Media to Adams Publishing, and served as president of APG Tennessee/North Carolina from Sept. 1, 2016, through Dec. 31, 2016.
