CNHI names Mike Beatty senior vice president

Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. has announced that Mike Beatty, publisher of The Joplin (Mo.) Globe, has been appointed senior vice president/operations, effective immediately. 

Beatty will oversee CNHI's 16 newspapers in Oklahoma and also continue as Joplin publisher. He will report directly to Steve McPhaul, CNHI's executive vice president and chief operating officer.

"We are fortunate to have someone of Mike's ability to take the reins in Oklahoma," said McPhaul. "His passion and commitment to producing quality content for readers and advertisers will be a true asset for our Oklahoma communities."

"I'm excited to take on the responsibility of working with CNHI's Oklahoma newspaper group," said Beatty. "Together, we will strive to take advantage of the strengths of each of the papers and create synergies that will continue to grow audience and revenues in both print and online."

A 30-year veteran newspaper executive, Beatty joined CNHI in 2010 as publisher of The Joplin Globe. He previously held senior management positions with The Chicago Sun Times, Liberty Publications in Chicago, The Baltimore Sun and The Baltimore Examiner.
