Tricia Johnston, an accomplished newspaper and marketing executive, has been appointed publisher of The Goshen News.

Johnston is a former group president and publisher for GateHouse Media in Michigan, based at the Holland Sentinel. She has also served as advertising and marketing manager for daily newspapers in West Chester, Penn., and Willoughby, Ohio.

Prior to her newspaper career, Johnston served for several years as marketing and communications director of the United Way of Lake County in Mentor, Ohio.

"We are pleased Tricia Johnston will head our team of professionals at The Goshen News," said Beverly Joyce, group publisher for CNHI, parent company of The Goshen News. "She has a proven record of results-driven leadership in the digital era, with rich experience in both print and online."

Johnston holds a master's degree in business administration from John Carroll University, and a bachelor's degree in English from St. Bonaventure University. She has served as a marketing consultant for Pakem Media of Cleveland for the last three years.

"Local journalism is so important for communities like Goshen so citizens know what their elected officials are doing, what is happening in their schools and what is happening where they live," Johnston said.

"Goshen is a vibrant community in a great part of the country and I am excited to meet our readers, our advertisers and the people who make the community work."
