Morrissey named publisher of Albany Herald

Scot Morrissey has been named publisher of The Albany Herald, Southern Community Newspapers Inc. Executive Vice President Mike Gebhart announced.

In his new role, Morrissey, who has been the publisher of the Athens Banner-Herald and OnlineAthens.com for nearly 10 years, will oversee all operations of the Albany newspaper.

Before his tenure with the Athens print and digital publications, Morrissey was publisher of the Log Cabin Democrat in Conway, Ark., in addition to working for two other papers in the Morris chain.
