Muhs resigns as State Journal-Register editor
Executive Editor Angie Muhs has resigned after five years with The State Journal-Register in Springfield, Ill.
Muhs, a native of Olney in southern Illinois, had a successful tenure at the SJ-R, leading statewide projects and editorial campaigns during the historic two years Illinois was without a state budget.
"I want to thank Angie for her commitment to providing excellent journalism to the SJ-R readers and wish her great success in her future endeavors," said Paul Gaier, president and group publisher of GateHouse Illinois, the SJ-R's parent company.
Under Muhs' leadership, the SJ-R twice won Newspaper of the Year in the Best of GateHouse contest.
Muhs is president of the Associated Press Media Editors. She hasn't announced her next professional move.
Gaier said a search to replace Muhs has begun.
