The Atmore Advance moves to once weekly
The Atmore (Ala.) Advance combined its two print editions last week and no longer publishes a weekend print edition. Instead, the new Wednesday print edition will be a larger newspaper.
The Advance will continue daily publication to its digital products found on its web site, www.atmoreadvance.com.
"We are committed to covering our community on a daily basis," said Justin Schuver, publisher. "This schedule change allows us to serve our readers in three well-received ways – in print on Wednesdays, daily on atmoreadvance.com digitally and through social media."
Wednesday's print edition includes news, sports, opinion and lifestyles, as well as the faith and business news that previously were published on Saturdays. The larger size of the new Wednesday edition allows for more in-depth reporting, additional photography and extra space for reader-submitted items, Schuver said.
In addition, the newspaper will continue to publish news and sports stories and photos daily to its website, along with updates on social media sites Facebook and Twitter. Those who subscribe to The Advance's daily news email also will receive updates daily and when news breaks.
Football coverage will continue live on social media during the games on Friday evenings, with stories and photos published digitally on atmoreadvance.com later that night.
Annual in-town subscriptions are $25 for the Wednesday print edition. Readers who have already paid will have their subscriptions extended to account for the change in cost.
"This schedule change is what we feel is best for our community, and the best for us. It will improve and enhance our newsgathering and reporting efforts," Schuver said. "As readers' methods of consuming news change, we are evolving to match their habits of reading both a print edition as well as up-to-the-minute online digital coverage.
"What will not change, however, is our commitment to our readers and advertisers and to our community."
