The Log Cabin Democrat publisher Jeff Hartley steps down

Jeff Hartley, publisher of the Log Cabin Democrat in Conway, Ark., has stepped down to pursue other opportunities. The announcement was made by Derek May, president of Morris Publishing Group. 

"I feel fortunate to have worked with Jeff over the past years.  We wish him the best of success in his future endeavors," said May. 

Hartley joined Morris Publishing Group in October of 2002. During his tenure, Hartley has held several leadership roles with the company, including circulation director for The Augusta Chronicle and vice president of consumer revenue in the corporate offices in Augusta, Ga., before being named as publisher of the Log Cabin Democrat in 2015.   

"I'm very proud of what I've accomplished in my time with MPG and am thankful for the opportunities they've given me along the way," said Hartley. "I love this industry and look forward to my next chapter in my life." 

Cindy Crabb, controller for the Log Cabin Democrat and The Topeka Capital-Journal, will serve as interim publisher.
