BH Media names Thornton as vice president of news

Rick Thornton, who had been an editor and a vice president at the Richmond (Va.) Times-Dispatch, was named vice president of news for BH Media Group.

Omaha, Neb.-based BH Media is a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary that owns 31 daily newspapers and other publications, including The Times-Dispatch and nine other newspapers in Virginia.

In his new role, Thornton will work with editors at BH Media newspapers on content strategies to help increase audience and revenue.
