Long-time Marshalltown publisher to retire
With more than three decades at the helm of The Times-Republican and Marshalltown Newspaper LLC, publisher Mike Schlesinger has announced he will retire June 30.
Abigail Pelzer will serve as his successor as publisher of The Times-Republican and Marshalltown Newspaper LLC and will manage all operations. Pelzer is the former managing editor of The Times-Republican and has served as editor of the Newton Daily News since July 2014.

Elizabeth Swindell took on many jobs as a fill-in at the Wilson (N.C.) Daily Times during the Depression. She learned all the roles and when the opportunity presented itself in 1946, she purchased an interest in the newspaper, and acquired full ownership in 1954. For her pioneering role in journalism and community service, she will be recognized with a North Carolina Highway Historical Marker at Noon on June 30, at 906 Nash St. North, Wilson. A reception will follow the dedication.

"I love you all," said Woo as he tried to contain his emotion. "I can't say enough how much I really enjoyed all of you."
From the crowd and the speeches, it was clear the feeling was mutual.
Woo spent 42 years as a photographer for The Dallas Morning News.

Bob Davis, publisher and editor of The Anniston Star, has announced his resignation.
Davis came to Consolidated in 2003, and has been The Star's editor since 2006. He took on the role of publisher in 2016. He's leaving to become executive director at High Plains Public Radio, a network of stations serving communities in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas.
Josephine Ayers has been named The Star's publisher, while Anthony Cook becomes executive editor of The Star and the other newspapers of its parent company, Consolidated Publishing.

Moroney will continue serving as a director and will assume the title of publisher emeritus of The Dallas Morning News, where he served as publisher and chief executive officer from 2001 until March 2018.
Robert W. Decherd will succeed Moroney as chairman, president and chief executive officer.
