Stephen Crass, longtime editor and publisher of the Cleveland (Tenn.) Daily Banner, has announced his retirement, which is set for January 2017. He has served as publisher of the Banner since April 2000.

John Newby, a veteran newspaper executive, has been appointed publisher of the Tahlequah (Okla.) Daily Press.

Newby will continue his role as publisher of the Muskogee Phoenix, which is owned by the same parent company, Community Newspaper Holdings, Inc.

Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. has announced that Robin Quillon, publisher of The Tribune-Democrat in Johnstown, Penn., and the Cumberland (Md.) Times-News, has been appointed senior vice president/operations.

Quillon will oversee several CNHI newspapers in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, West Virginia, Kentucky and Maryland, while maintaining his current publisher role.

Rhonda Overbey, a 26-year veteran of the newspaper industry, was introduced Monday as the new publisher of the Aiken Standard.

Overbey, a native of Conway, Ark., comes to Aiken by way of Sedalia, Mo.

Michael Smith, executive editor of the Spartanburg (S.C.) Herald-Journal, has been promoted to regional editor of the Western Carolina Media Group by GateHouse Media.

Juliette Pryor, 51, has been named senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary for Cox Enterprises. Pryor reports to Cox Enterprises Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Dallas Clement and succeeds Shauna Muhl who will retire from Cox at year end.

Steve Jameson, an accomplished newspaper executive, has been appointed publisher of the Mankato (Minn.) Free Press, effective Oct. 26, the newspaper announced Friday.

Jameson, 50, is currently the regional advertising director for BH Media newspaper group in southwest Virginia. Papers include the daily Bristol Herald Courier and seven weeklies.

Kurt Caywood, vice president of audience for The Florida Times-Union, has been named vice president of audience for Morris Publishing Group. The announcement was made by Derek May, president of Morris Publishing Group.
