Robert Granfeldt has resigned from his position as group publisher of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal and Amarillo Globe-News. He began his tenure as publisher in February 2018.

Regional Vice President Matt Guthrie will be temporarily assuming his duties.

Paxton Media Group acquires Log Cabin Democrat 6/3/19

Paxton Media Group has purchased the Log Cabin Democrat, a daily newspaper in Conway, Ark., along with three Arkansas weeklies in Clinton, Heber Springs and Newport, according to Randy Cope, managing director of Cribb, Greene & Cope, who represented GateHouse Media in the sale. Cribb, Greene & Cope is a leading merger and acquisition firm with offices in Virginia, Arkansas, Montana and California.


Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor Chris Roush takes role at Conn. university 5/31/19

Chris Roush, Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, has been named dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University.

Roush, 54, begins July 22 in his new role at Quinnipiac, a private university in Connecticut with about 10,000 students.

Greer has been named dean of the University of Kentucky College of Communication and Information, which houses the Department of Communication, the School of Journalism and Media, the Department of Integrated Strategic Communication, the School of Information Science, and the Graduate Program in Communication.

McClatchy has named Kristin Roberts vice president of news. She will lead a newly-expanded News group that comprises the company's 30 newsrooms across 14 states, news operations and McClatchy Studios, the company's long-form audio and video documentary production unit.


Scott Anderson to leave Ames Tribune 5/21/19

Ames (Iowa) Tribune Publisher Scott Anderson announced this week that he will be stepping down from his position to pursue other opportunities.

Anderson said his last day at the Tribune will be June 7.


Muhs resigns as State Journal-Register editor 5/21/19

Executive Editor Angie Muhs has resigned after five years with The State Journal-Register in Springfield, Ill.

Muhs, a native of Olney in southern Illinois, had a successful tenure at the SJ-R, leading statewide projects and editorial campaigns during the historic two years Illinois was without a state budget.
